September 12, 2026, the the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC), in collaboration with relevant research institutions, officially launched the “2025 List of World-Class Scientific and Technical Journals” at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Pujiang Innovation Forum. This list serves as China's equivalent to the JCR journal catalog. Energy Reviews has been successfully included in this list. Currently, 9 scientific and technological journals from Guangdong Province have been included in this catalog.

This catalog includes a total of 6,132 journals from 55 countries (regions) worldwide, covering 23 languages. Among them, 353 Chinese journals have been selected, accounting for 5.8% of the total. The world-class scientific and technological journal evaluation system was spearheaded by ISTIC, which established a "Four Capacities" framework encompassing academic organizational capacity, academic leadership, academic influence, and social impact, supported by 9 core indicators. This has truly established a scientific and multidimensional global evaluation system for scientific and technological journals.

This milestone marks a new phase in which journal evaluation is moving toward greater scientific rigor and fairness. The implementation of this scientific and multidimensional evaluation system will inject new momentum into the high-quality development of scientific and technological journals worldwide.

This outstanding performance is the result of the unwavering support and dedication of experts and scholars worldwide, contributing authors, readers, and the editorial board. Since its inception, Energy Reviews has reached several critical milestones. It has been successfully selected for the “High Starting Point New Journal” program under the China Excellence Action Plan for Sci-Tech Journals and recognized as a core Chinese sci-tech journal.

Furthermore, Energy Reviews has been indexed by authoritative databases including ESCI, CSCD, CSTPCD, Scopus, and EI. The journal has also achieved remarkable milestones in key metrics. It received its first Impact Factor (IF = 16.5) and has been ranked in the Q1 in both of its subject categories, namely Energy & Fuels and Materials Science, Multidisciplinary. Its CiteScore has reached an impressive 31.7. Alongside steady growth in manuscript submissions, publications, and citations, these achievements underscore the rapidly rising academic influence of Energy Reviewson both the domestic and international stages.

Adhering to its founding mission of “Focusing on Frontiers, Leading Trends,” Energy Reviews remains deeply committed to publishing high-quality, cutting-edge research and driving disciplinary development. Moving forward, the journal will continue to prioritize high-quality development, striving to build a world-class scientific publication. We look forward to partnering with the global research community to jointly advance innovation and sustainable development in global energy science and technology.

We extend our most sincere gratitude to all experts, scholars, and readers for their continuous trust and support. Together, we will continue to push the boundaries of energy research!
