On 17 January 2026, the 2025 Academic Committee Meeting of the National Key Laboratory of Intelligent Construction and Maintenance of Geotechnical and Tunnel Engineering in Extreme Environments convened in Shenzhen. The meeting was jointly hosted by our institute and the Future Underground City Research Institute of Shenzhen University.

Academician Chen Xiangsheng of the Chinese Academy of Engineering chaired the meeting and introduced the attending experts and leaders, including members of the Academic Committee: Academician Zhu Hehua of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Liang Wenhao of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Duojie of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Feng Xiating of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Li Qingquan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, National Master of Engineering Survey and Design Wang Zhengming, former Chief Engineer of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited Lei Shengxiang, Vice President of Southwest Jiaotong University Yan Qixiang, Chief Expert of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited Ren Shaoqiang, Technical Director of CRCC Heavy Industry Ji Haidong, and former Vice President of China Railway First Survey and Design Institute Group Co., Ltd. At the outset of the meeting, Huang Shuanglin, Deputy Party Secretary and President of the First Railway Survey and Design Institute, Wang Ping, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Southwest Jiaotong University, and Li Yonghua, Vice President of Shenzhen University, delivered addresses respectively. They extended a warm welcome to the academicians, leaders, and experts and scholars who had graced Shenzhen with their presence, and fully acknowledged the significant contributions made by the laboratory in scientific research and talent cultivation.
Subsequently, the meeting proceeded to the second agenda item, chaired by Academician Zhu Hehua, Director of the Academic Committee. Li Guoliang, National Master of Engineering Survey and Design at the First Railway Survey and Design Institute and Director of the National Key Laboratory, provided a detailed account of the laboratory's operational status.


Subsequently, the attending experts engaged in in-depth discussions, resulting in the minutes of the Academic Committee meeting. The Academic Committee reviewed the laboratory's operational report covering the past three years and examined relevant documentation. During the proceedings, committee members actively contributed suggestions and engaged in thorough exchanges. Academicians, leaders, and experts unanimously expressed high recognition for the laboratory's achievements to date, while offering a series of valuable opinions and recommendations. Following deliberations and questioning, it was unanimously agreed that: during the assessment period, the laboratory had conducted highly effective scientific research closely aligned with major national projects such as the Sichuan-Tibet Railway. It had undertaken multiple projects under the National Key R&D Programme and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, achieving several representative outcomes demonstrating professional leadership. Its research output had been substantial, providing robust support for the implementation of major national strategies.


Finally, Academician Chen Xiangsheng, Director of our institute and Deputy Director of the National Key Laboratory, extended his sincere gratitude to all academicians, leaders, and experts in attendance. This conference systematically reviewed the current progress of the National Key Laboratory, synthesised the collective wisdom of numerous experts from both academia and industry, and further enhanced our institute's influence within the academic community and relevant sectors.
