Energy Reviews Achieves First Impact Factor of 16.5, Securing Top 7% in Two JCR Categories

June 17, 2026 , Clarivate has officially released the 2025 Journal Citation Reports ( JCR ) , marking a historic milestone for Energy Reviews . The journal has received its first Impact Factor ( IF ) of 16.5, firmly establishing its position in the Q1 across both of its assigned subject categories. This remarkable achievement underscores the journal ’ s rapid ascent in academic competitiveness and its growing global influence in the energy research community.

According to the latest JCR data, Energy Reviews has demonstrated outstanding performance in highly competitive fields. Ranked in the Q1 across both of its assigned subject categories.

In the “Energy & Fuels” category, the journal ranks 14th out of 191 journals, ranking in the top 7%.

In the “ Materials Science, Multidisciplinary ” category, the journal secures the 34th position out of 472 journals, also ranking in the top 7%.

The journal’s academic impact is further validated by its robust growth metrics. Submissions, published articles, and citations have all seen positive, synchronized growth. Notably, the journal has achieved an impressive CiteScore of 28.9, highlighting its immediate and significant influence within the academic community.

This outstanding performance is the result of the unwavering support and dedication of experts and scholars worldwide, contributing authors, readers, and the editorial board. Since its inception, Energy Reviews has reached several critical milestones. It has been successfully selected for the “High Starting Point New Journal” program under the China Excellence Action Plan for Sci-Tech Journals and recognized as a core Chinese sci-tech journal. Furthermore, the journal has been indexed by authoritative databases including ESCI, CSCD, Scopus, and EI.
