On the morning of January 6, 2021, Shenzhen Science and Technology Awards Conference was held in Shenzhen Hall. Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee Secretary Wang Weizhong, Mayor Chen Rugui and other city leaders, as well as the main leaders of the municipal departments and district governments attended the meeting. Led by Academician Chen Xiangsheng of the College of Civil and Transportation Engineering, Shenzhen University, and participated by the Underground Polis Academy of Shenzhen University, "Research on Key Technologies for Land-intensive and Environmentally Friendly Metro Construction—Shenzhen Metro Line 7 Project" won the 2020 Science and Technology Progress Award ——First prize in major engineering category. Comrade Wang Weizhong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee, personally presented the award certificate to Academician Chen Xiangsheng.

Shenzhen Metro Line 7, once called Xili Line, connects Buxin, Tianbei, Sungang, Huaqiangbei, Futian South, Chegongmiao, Longzhu, Xili and other areas, connecting the main residential and employment areas in the special zone Subway lines. With the theme of ecological subway construction, the Line 7 project has researched and created a number of innovative key technologies for subway construction under mixed stratum conditions in a complex environment, forming an innovative concept of land-intensive and environmentally friendly subway construction. The project successfully implemented large-scale construction and co-construction of underground commercial space in the prosperous business district, which is the first time in China. The super-long and super-large foundation pits of 69,000 square meters in Huaqiangbei are all constructed by cover-excavation method, which is the largest-scale subway cover-excavation foundation pit in China.

Under the leadership of Academician Chen Xiangsheng, from planning to design and pre-construction, the sustainable implementation of urban ecology, intensive use of land and urban space development has been carried out. The scientific and technological achievements of the project have promoted the upgrading of urban planning, the living environment along the line has been significantly improved, and the land resources along the line have been used efficiently and intensively as needed. The function of the subway line network has been strengthened, and the congestion of citizens' travel has been greatly eased. It has innovated the construction technology of the limited space subway in the built-up area of high-density cities, and expanded the space for urban development. The application of this achievement ensures the rapid, safe, and high-quality construction of subway projects in complex environments and strata conditions, resolves the contradictions between traffic, municipal facilities, landscapes, land use and subway construction in dense urban areas, and achieves engineering and environmental protection. The organic combination and efficient combination with municipal functions can provide guidance and reference for similar projects, and have important scientific guiding significance for the construction of green and sustainable underground space development. At the same time, the team also published our country's first monograph on the construction of urban rail transit ecological civilization-"Urban Rail Transit Ecological Civilization Construction-Shenzhen Metro Line 7 Construction Practice".
