On the afternoon of December 3rd, our hospital held a scenario based teaching reform open class in the BIM laboratory of Zhigong Building. The open class activity was presided over by Vice Dean Yang Lei, and leaders such as Party Secretary Zuo Yingzi and Vice Dean Ding Zhikun attended the open class activity. The assistant dean, department head, teaching and research department head, and teaching backbone teachers also participated.

In the open class activity, Associate Professor Chen Xianchuan first gave a demonstration lecture on "Steel Structures". Associate Professor Chen Xianchuan conducted scenario based teaching with sensory impact, including scene roaming, external resource display, scenario based component disassembly, and catastrophic structural damage. Then, Professor Sun Xiaohui presented the entire process, all elements, and scenario based scenes of the "Geotechnical and Underground Engineering" course group, and introduced the main functions of the software, such as observation toolbox, universal LCD screen, knowledge point retrieval, flexible animation, human to human communication, VR mode, and big data panel. The leaders and teachers who participated in the open class had an immersive software experience.

Finally, under the leadership of Vice Dean Yang Lei, the teachers had a lively and constructive exchange. The leaders and teachers have given full recognition to the development of the scenario based teaching platform. The teachers all pointed out that our college has initially formed a civil engineering metaverse teaching platform that integrates the whole process, scenario, and above ground and underground aspects. They have also put forward valuable suggestions on course arrangement, knowledge point indexing, module division, operational convenience, and integration of large models. In the future, our college will continue to develop and expand its functions, configure and improve the knowledge system in virtual scenes, aiming to compress traditional teaching hours, improve teaching efficiency, abandon traditional textbooks, and promote the transformation of situational teaching paradigms.

The reform of our college's scenario based teaching mode originated from the teaching philosophy of Academician Chen Xiangsheng. With the strong support of college leaders and teachers, Vice Dean Yang Lei, Professor Sun Xiaohui, and Associate Professor Chen Xianchuan have undergone continuous construction for more than a year, and have initially formed a metaverse scenario based teaching platform covering all elements of civil engineering, including concrete structures, steel structures, high-rise buildings, bridge engineering, underground space engineering, tunnel engineering, engineering survey, foundation treatment, excavation engineering, foundation engineering, slope engineering, environmental geotechnical engineering, etc.
