On the afternoon of May 7, 2025, the first class meeting of Civil Engineering (Mathematical Mechanics Innovation Class) was successfully held in Lecture Hall No. 1 of Science and Technology Building of Shenzhen University. The participants of this class meeting included Academician Xie Heping, Director of Mathematical Mechanics Innovation Class, Academician Zheng Quanshui, Chief Scientist of Mathematical Mechanics Innovation Class, mentors of Shenzhen University and School of Zero-Yi, undergraduates of Mathematical Mechanics Innovation Class of Grade 24 and doctoral students of Ministry of Education of China (MOE) in the “Reserve Talent” special program of Grade 24 and 25, and so on. Leaders and teachers from the Academic Affairs Department, Publicity Department and Admission Office of the university also attended the class meeting.
First of all, 25 PhD students and 30 students of Mathematical Mechanics Innovation Class of 2024 introduced themselves one by one, and the PhD students introduced their own research direction and invited their younger siblings to explore scientific cooperation. The undergraduate students expressed their strong pride in being selected for the class, introduced their interests in their future majors, and hoped to be exposed to scientific research as early as possible.


In addition, Academician Xie Heping also introduced the Mathematical Mechanics Innovation Class training program and special program support in undergraduate innovative scientific research exploration, paper publication funding, competition special funding, book and literature acquisition, domestic and international exchange funding, independent study space, etc., and put forward a three-point message to undergraduate and doctoral students: 1) have a dream and more to struggle; 2) take excellence as a habit; 3) know how to respect and virtue in the world. We hope that they will aspire to be outstanding talents with high character who can contribute to the development of the country, the society and the mankind.


Subsequently, Academician Zheng Quanshui, the founder of Zero One College, a famous mechanic and member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered a speech, firstly expressing his gratitude to Academician Xie for inviting his team to participate in the construction of SZU's Mathematics and Mechanics Innovation Class, and introducing the founding history, characteristics of Zero One College and the achievements it has made, aiming to take the major innovation challenges as the traction, and to implement the highly personalized education of “Advanced Research - Intensive Learning”. He also introduced the founding history of Zero One College and its characteristics and achievements, aiming to implement a highly personalized education of “advanced research and deep learning” by taking major innovative challenges as a guide. He also said that he would actively cooperate with Academician Xie's team in education, talent training and scientific research, and would share the relevant teaching, scientific research faculty and scientific research platform of Zero-One College in the future, so as to jointly provide guarantee for the construction and development of the Mathematical Mechanics Innovation Class.
Finally, the class director, academician Xie Heping, summarized the class meeting, thanked academician Zheng Quanshui and his team, SZU tutor group, relevant departments of the school and other support for the construction of theinnovative class of mathematical mechanics, and hoped that the majority of students cherish the rare opportunity, the top resource platform to study well.
