On November 4, 2019, The Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province announced the list of projects funded by the Special Fund for Science and Technology Innovation strategy of Guangdong Province (the second batch of Subject Key Laboratory). A total of 16 projects were approved, and the "Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Deep Earth Sciences and Geothermal Energy Exploitation and Utilization" applied by Academician Xie Heping of our college was successfully selected.

Of Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Deep Earth Sciences and Geothermal Energy Exploitation and Utilizatio is to obtain the second provincial key laboratory of our major projects will face 2035 national deep, with a large bay area of guangdong national major strategic demand, focus on deep scientific principles to explore, Hong Kong and Macao to tackle big bay area geothermal exploration and exploitation and utilization of key scientific problems.Around deeply in situ rock mechanics science and deep, deep engineering disturbed rock dynamics, geothermal resources exploration and exploitation in the key technology, low temperature geothermal power of transformational and disruptive technology and fidelity core base and temperature difference power generation technology to explore aspects to carry out the scientific research work, strive to build deeply science and geothermal energy development and utilization of international scientific research center, international first-class talent training base construction and scientific research platform, to a large bay area of guangdong geothermal energy exploitation and deep exploration to make important contributions to science in our country.
