Recently, the Department of Education of Guangdong Province announced the results of the first Guangdong Excellent Teaching Materials (Higher Education Category) (Guangdong Education Higher Letter [2025] No. 18), and the teaching material Soil Mechanics (2nd Edition) edited by Prof. Su Dong of our college was successfully selected. This selection is based on the “Guangdong Provincial Department of Education forwarded to the National Textbook Committee on the Second National Textbook Construction Award Selection Notice” requirements, through the declaration of colleges and universities, qualification audit, expert evaluation and publicity and other aspects of strict selection, the province's total of 53 undergraduate colleges and universities of the final 213 textbooks were evaluated, of which 10 textbooks of the University of Shenzhen was selected.

Soil Mechanics (2nd Edition) is edited by Prof. Su Dong, with the participation of Associate Prof. Ji Fengling, Prof. Bao Xiaohua and Prof. Chen Rui. The writing team adheres to the teaching concept of “student-centered” and takes “systematic, scientific, contemporary, adaptable and inspirational” as the guiding principle, reorganizes and explains the basic concepts and core theories of classical geotechnics, and introduces the critical state theory, constitutive relationship and basic unsaturated soil structure theory of modern geotechnics. At the same time, it introduces the theory of critical state, constitutive relationship and basic properties of unsaturated soil in modern geotechnics, which helps students to systematically construct the basic knowledge system of geotechnics, and lays a solid foundation for postgraduate courses such as Higher Geotechnics and Unsaturated Soil Mechanics. This textbook has been selected as the 13th Five-Year Plan Textbook for General Higher Education, selected by more than 20 universities and colleges such as Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), and has won the “Shenzhen University Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching and Research Achievement Award”.
