The Key Laboratory of Coastal Urban Soil and Water Environment Evolution, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Shenzhen University (hereinafter referred to as the "Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment") is a ministerial-level research platform established to address the strategic demands of China's maritime power strategy, the "Beautiful China" initiative, and the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Focusing on coastal megacities as its research subject, the laboratory addresses ecological challenges arising from the accelerated evolution of urban soil and water environments under the backdrop of intensive land-sea development in coastal cities. It systematically elucidates the evolution patterns of water and soil environments under the influence of coastal urban development (and its associated bulk solid wastes, such as construction and demolition debris, dredged sediments, etc.). The laboratory conducts integrated land-sea environmental governance and coupled soil-water remediation research based on solid waste utilisation/disposal, aiming to construct resilient ecological environments for coastal cities. This work provides scientific foundations for ecological conservation and high-quality development in coastal megacities.
The Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment is seeking outstanding scholars with distinguished achievements in environmental geotechnics, environmental engineering, environmental chemistry, engineering materials, solid waste resource utilisation, pollution control engineering, intelligent environmental monitoring, and numerical simulation. Candidates will conduct innovative research aligned with the laboratory's core objectives, generating internationally influential original outcomes to advance urban ecological civilisation development.
