In order to implement the national strategic deployment on the urgent need for high-level talent cultivation in key areas, focus on the urgent demand for talents in major scientific and technological research fields, and cultivate urgently needed talents for the development of new quality productivity and the promotion of high-quality development, the Ministry of Education has specially approved the doctoral enrollment and talent reserve project of Academician Xie Heping's team at Shenzhen University. The project aims to innovate and construct a cross disciplinary, cross college, cross school, and dual mentor and multi mentor collaborative training model for top-notch innovative talents based on direct undergraduate, master's, and doctoral studies, combined with the application and assessment system. This talent storage program recruits doctoral students both domestically and internationally, with a focus on the cutting-edge exploration, disruptive technologies, and interdisciplinary training of Academician Xie Heping's team in key areas such as deep earth, deep sea, and deep space energy resource development, carbon neutral CCUS/ZC-DCFC/SOFC low-carbon energy technology, medium and low-temperature geothermal power generation/direct hydrogen production from seawater, and safe and efficient large-scale energy storage. According to the "Implementation Plan for the Enrollment of" Direct PhD Students "at Shenzhen University in 2025", the implementation plan for the enrollment of "Direct PhD Students" for this talent reserve special project in 2025 is formulated and announced as follows:
一、 Basic principles
Moderate competition between mentors and disciplines stimulates the intrinsic motivation to improve the quality of students, adhering to the principles of quality first, comprehensive evaluation, selective admission, and preferring scarcity over excess.
二、 Enrollment Method
The enrollment of directly pursuing a doctoral degree in this program refers to the selection of outstanding undergraduate graduates who have obtained the recommended exemption from entrance examination qualifications in China to directly obtain the admission qualification for doctoral studies.
We only accept full-time non directed doctoral students who study on a full-time basis, with a duration of 5 years. All candidates who intend to be admitted must transfer their personnel files to our graduate archives room within the prescribed time, otherwise their admission eligibility will be cancelled.

四、Application requirements (all must be met simultaneously)
1.Support the leadership of the CPC, have the right political direction, love the motherland, be willing to serve the socialist modernization drive, abide by discipline and law, and behave well.
2.The applicant is a recent undergraduate graduate who has been recommended to pursue graduate studies without examination.
3.Excellent academic performance, strong interest in academic research, strong innovative spirit and research ability. During my school years, I participated in scientific research, national academic competitions, and other activities. Those who performed outstandingly will be given priority consideration.
4.Having strong language proficiency, a high level of foreign language proficiency, and providing corresponding English proficiency certificates (specific requirements can be found in item (6) of the personal application materials required).

五、Selection process
(一)individual application
1、Submit materials. (1)《Application Form for Shenzhen University to Recruit Outstanding Fresh Undergraduate Students to Directly pursue Doctoral Degrees》
(2)Original proof of enrollment or copy of student ID card (including student's personal information, photo, and registration status);
(3)Original course transcript (stamped with the official seal of the school's academic management department);
(4)Written recommendation letters from two or more individuals with associate professor or higher professional titles (or experts with equivalent professional and technical titles) in the applied subject field (recommendation letters must use the template provided by our university);

(6)At least one of the following English proficiency certificates must be provided:

(7)Copy of award certificate, copy of publicly published academic paper, proof of patents and other original research achievements obtained;
(8)A physical examination certificate issued by a tertiary Grade A hospital;
(9)Copy of the front and back of the second-generation ID card;
(10)The "2025 Doctoral Student Political Review (Realistic Performance) Materials of Shenzhen University" shall be filled out by the Party Committee of my college (this item may not be provided at the time of application, but must be submitted according to the requirements of the form after passing the interview).
2、Online registration. Applicants should follow the application procedures stipulated in the "Shenzhen University 2025 Recommended Exemption from Examination for Graduate Students (including Direct PhD Students) Regulations" and fill out their preferences for recruiting direct PhD students through the "Recommendation Service System" on the China Graduate Admissions Information Network (hereinafter referred to as the "Research and Recruitment Network") from September 28th to October 20th (the specific time is subject to the announcement on the Research and Recruitment Network).
(二)Qualification Review
After receiving the materials from the applicant, our talent reserve special working group will organize a qualification review based on the application requirements.
(三)Preliminary review, determine the assessment list
The working group will carefully review the applicant's materials according to the relevant implementation rules, and conduct a preliminary evaluation of the applicant's scientific research and innovation capabilities for screening. Based on the applicant's intention to apply for a supervisor, a list of applicants who will enter the interview assessment stage will be determined according to a certain percentage of the difference in the interview rate. The list of applicants who plan to enter the interview and assessment stage will be publicly displayed on the college website.
(四)Interview assessment
The working group organizes experts to conduct interviews and assessments. The specific form, time, and location should be notified to candidates in advance and publicly announced. The specific requirements for the assessment are as follows:
1.The assessment content includes four parts: foreign language proficiency, professional quality, research potential, and comprehensive ability. The focus is on assessing the applicant's scientific research and innovation ability, whether they have the potential and quality for doctoral training in this first level discipline, and examining the applicant's comprehensive ability to analyze, solve problems, and innovate. In addition, the applicant's comprehensive qualities such as ideological, political, psychological, and moral qualities should also be assessed.
2.During the assessment process, each applicant is required to present their personal profile, academic performance, research project, research achievements, and research plan for their intended doctoral degree.
3.Before October 16, 2024, submit the proposed admission list to the school in descending order based on the assessment results, and submit relevant materials to the Graduate Admissions Office.
(五)Review by the Leading Group for Graduate Admissions at the School
The leading group for graduate enrollment at the school reviews the application materials, assessment materials, etc. of applicants. Within the enrollment quota limit, those who pass the review must receive the notice of pending admission in a timely manner on the "Recommendation Service System" of the Research and Recruitment Network within the prescribed time.
六、Supervisory mechanism
(一)Information disclosure. The enrollment method for "direct PhD students" should comply with the requirements of the Ministry of Education on information disclosure, ensuring accurate information collection, standardized disclosure procedures, and timely content release. The Graduate School and various admission colleges (departments, centers, laboratories) actively disclose enrollment policies, enrollment regulations, enrollment plans, enrollment major catalogs, applicant qualifications, application procedures, admission results, consultation and appeal channels, major violations, and handling results in accordance with their respective work divisions. Admissions colleges (departments, centers, laboratories) should promptly publish relevant implementation rules, enrollment numbers, and relevant information of all applicants participating in the assessment on their own websites to the public. The final list of candidates to be admitted will be publicly announced within 10 working days in accordance with the relevant enrollment regulations of the Ministry of Education. If there are any changes to the proposed admission list during the public announcement period, a special explanation must be provided for the changes, and the changes must be announced separately for 10 working days. Applicants who have not been publicly announced shall not be admitted.
(二)Applicants should provide truthful application materials. If it is found that the applicant has submitted false materials, cheated or committed other disciplinary violations, serious punishment will be given in accordance with relevant national laws, regulations and the relevant provisions of the Ministry of Education, depending on the severity of the circumstances. If the applicant is unable to be admitted or has other related consequences as a result, they shall bear the responsibility themselves.
(三)Members of the disciplinary expert group and the interview and assessment expert group must comply with academic and professional ethical standards. For enrollment colleges (departments, centers, laboratories) and individuals who encounter problems, they will be subject to specific measures such as reducing enrollment plans, suspending enrollment, revoking mentor qualifications, and receiving criticism.
七、others
Doctoral students who are jointly recruited through this special program and the team of Academician Xie Heping for interdisciplinary research will be jointly trained according to the principle of "one source, one direction, one agreement", that is, one doctoral source corresponds to one interdisciplinary research direction, and a specific joint training plan agreement will be signed. The research direction of doctoral students should be closely integrated with the main cutting-edge explorations, key areas, and interdisciplinary directions of Academician Xie Heping's team. The entire process of enrollment and training of doctoral students in this talent reserve program (topic selection, mid-term assessment, graduation defense, etc.) is organized and fully participated by the team of Academician Xie Heping, and adopts a cross disciplinary, cross college, cross school, and dual mentor and multi mentor collaborative guidance model to cultivate outstanding innovative talents.
