Missouri University of Science and Technology is located in Rolla, Missouri. Founded in 1870, the university is a member of the University of Missouri System. At the beginning of its establishment, the university was mainly devoted to research on mining and metallurgy. At present, its professional scope not only covers the vast majority of science and engineering disciplines, but also develops the field of social science, literature and art. At present, the university has developed into an international well-known comprehensive university integrating civil engineering, materials, electronics, machinery, chemical engineering and other disciplines. Its energy, civil engineering, materials and other disciplines are in the forefront of the United States with world-renowned academic achievements, and it is an international well-known university with engineering science as its specialty, among which civil engineering ranks 66th in USNEWS 2020. The college focuses on global development, is dominated by research and committed to playing a positive role, and has extensive contacts with domestic enterprises and business institutions. In order to further strengthen the graduate education, academic exchanges and cooperation with international universities; meanwhile, promote the development of scientific research, talent introduction and discipline construction, the Civil Engineering Department of Missouri University of Science and Technology and the Civil and Transportation Engineering College of Shenzhen University had already many years of research cooperation foundation. In 2018, the two sides signed an agreement on academic cooperation and joint cultivation of doctoral students. The agreement relies on the research conditions and facilities of both sides, establishes the academic exchange platform of both sides, and provides sufficient guarantee for the doctoral students to carry out project research. At present, it is in the process of enrollment. The cooperative research directions of the doctoral program are as follows:

1. New materials and new green cement-based composite materials;

2. Sustainable utilization of green cementitious materials and waste aggregate;

3. Rheological properties and test methods of cement-based materials;

4. Design and engineering application of self-compacting concrete and high-performance concrete;

5. Repair of civil engineering infrastructure;

6. Structural health monitoring.

Areas of cooperation

1. Carry out various research cooperation projects;

2. Cooperate to hold various academic and scientific activities (such as courses, conferences, seminars, symposiums and lectures);

3. Exchange academic personnel to participate in teaching or research activities;

4. Exchange students (Doctor / academic master) to participate in learning or research projects;

5. Exchange publications and other research information benefit to both sides.

Student development details

Project tuition standard, training mode and award system

1. Free tuition for doctoral students;

2. 1-2 places per year for the program;

3. The standard length of schooling for full-time doctoral students is 3 years;

4. Double tutor system is adopted for training, the course learning is mainly carried out in Missouri S&T, and the academic research site is carried out in Shenzhen University or Missouri S&T according to the actual needs of the project. The doctoral degree of Missouri S&T will be obtained after graduation;

5. Scholarship system: relying on CSC high-level university public graduate project fund, the joint doctoral program provides rich scholarships;

6. Application conditions: graduates with IELTS 6.5 or above, GPA 3.5 or above, and background in civil engineering, engineering mechanics, and cement-based materials.
