The "2024 Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Geotechnical Engineering Young Scholars Forum" was held at Shenzhen University from August 24th to August 25th. This conference is hosted by the Guangdong Society of Geotechnical Mechanics and Engineering and the Youth Working Committee of the Guangdong Society of Geotechnical Mechanics and Engineering. It is organized by Shenzhen University, Southern University of Science and Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), and the National Key Laboratory of Intelligent Construction and Maintenance of Extreme Environment Geotechnical and Tunnel Engineering. The conference is also co organized by the School of Civil and Transportation Engineering at Shenzhen University, the Hong Kong Society of Engineers, the Future Underground City Research Institute at Shenzhen University, the Key Laboratory of Resilient Infrastructure in Coastal Cities of the Ministry of Education, and the Key Laboratory of Green, Efficient and Intelligent Construction of Underground Stations in Shenzhen.

The forum, with the theme of "Intelligent and Resilient Geotechnical and Underground Engineering", provides in-depth exchanges on the research and application progress of new concepts and technologies in the design, construction, operation and maintenance stages of geotechnical and underground engineering in recent years, providing a learning and communication platform for young geotechnical workers. Academician Chen Xiangsheng, the President of our institute, serves as a member of the Advisory Committee, Professor Su Dong, the Vice President of our institute, serves as the Director of the Academic Committee and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Researcher Fei Jianbo serves as the Deputy Secretary General of the Academic Committee and the Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee, and several first-class experts and scholars serve as members of the Advisory Committee, Academic Committee, and Organizing Committee.

At the opening ceremony, Academician Chen Xiangsheng, Dean of our institute, first delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the organizing unit Shenzhen University and the National Key Laboratory of Intelligent Construction and Maintenance of Extreme Environment Geotechnical and Tunnel Engineering. Professor Pan Hong, on behalf of the organizing unit Guangdong Society of Geotechnical Mechanics and Engineering, delivered the opening speech. The forum also held a graduate academic report competition, providing a showcase for young students and attracting nearly 100 students from more than 20 institutions including Cambridge University, Zhejiang University, University of Hong Kong, Air Force Engineering University, Sun Yat sen University, Hunan University, University of Macau, Shenzhen University, Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), and Southern University of Science and Technology. Ultimately, 37 students participated in the competition.
