On October 18-21, 2024, the 2024 China Tunnel and Underground Engineering Conference (CTUC) and the 24th Annual Meeting of the Tunnel and Underground Engineering Branch of the Chinese Society of Civil Engineering were held in Zhuhai, Guangdong. The theme of the conference is "Double carbon goals and China's tunnel and underground engineering construction in the context of the the Belt and Road". It was hosted by the Tunnel and Underground Engineering Branch of the Chinese Civil Engineering Society and Sun Yat sen University. About 1500 experts and scholars from relevant fields such as universities, research institutes, enterprises, etc. across the country attended the conference, showing the latest scientific and technological frontiers and application achievements in the field of tunnel and underground engineering in China.

Graduate students Chen Yifan, Zhang Runqi, Tan Junyi, Xie Dianyan, Huang Jiazhi, Yang Weihong, Xue Junhao, and others from the research institute conducted academic exchanges and reports at the Graduate Science and Technology Forum, sharing their latest research achievements in the field of tunnels and underground engineering, including low-carbon effect research in tunnel engineering construction, research on the construction of ultra large rectangular top pipe tunneling tunnels, and the construction of underwater ultra large diameter shield tunneling connection channels. They had in-depth academic discussions and exchanges with attending experts and scholars, as well as graduate students from various universities.
