On 12 December 2025, the Department of Education of Guangdong Province formally announced the recipients of the Provincial Outstanding Teaching Achievement Awards (Higher Education – Postgraduate Category). The teaching achievement entitled Innovation and Practice of the Bay Area Outstanding Talent Cultivation Model: "Three-Region Synergy, Four-Chain Integration, Five-in-One Approach" for Building a Strong Nation in Transportation, jointly submitted by Shenzhen University in collaboration with the Guangdong Academy of Building Research, Poly Changda Engineering Co., Ltd., China Communications Road & Bridge Construction Co., Ltd., and Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), was awarded the Second Prize. This accolade signifies significant progress in our institute's cultivation of innovative postgraduate talent.
The acceleration of national infrastructure integration under the "Transportation Powerhouse" initiative and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has imposed new demands on postgraduate education, requiring cross-regional rule transfer, digital-intellectual convergence, and international collaboration. This necessitates urgent restructuring of educational objectives, curriculum frameworks, and practical platforms. This pedagogical achievement adopts a tripartite collaborative framework (Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao) and employs a four-chain integration mechanism (education chain-talent chain-innovation chain-industrial chain), centred around five core dimensions: digital-intellectual engineering thinking, interdisciplinary convergence and composite applications, international competence and cross-cultural collaboration, complex engineering problem-solving and innovation practice, and lifelong learning with a national perspectiv — innovation chain—industrial chain) as its mechanism. Centred on five pillars (digital-intelligence driven engineering thinking, interdisciplinary convergence and composite application, international competence and cross-cultural collaboration, complex engineering problem-solving and innovative practice, lifelong learning and patriotic commitment), it establishes a competency-oriented assessment and continuous optimisation mechanism. This constructs an innovative collaborative postgraduate education model centred on "major engineering projects as the classroom".

Faculty members and postgraduate students have been deeply involved in the construction of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel.

The innovation of this teaching achievement is primarily manifested in: (1) Shaping an internationalised collaborative education paradigm for the Greater Bay Area, driven by tri-regional synergy and underpinned by disciplinary integration; (2) Establishing a seamless digital-intelligent toolchain and capability loop through a "civil engineering + intelligent manufacturing" foundation and T-shaped restructuring approach; (3) Enhancing practical education and capability advancement by integrating the four chains within real-world engineering scenarios; (4) Deepening university-industry collaboration and job alignment through project-driven approaches and dynamic updates; (5) Fostering alumni ecosystems and societal advancement via lifelong learning orientation and open platform integration.
This pedagogical achievement establishes a replicable and scalable model for cultivating outstanding engineering talent, forming a closed-loop "problem-research-application-evaluation" system validated through implementation in major Greater Bay Area projects including the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, Shenzhen Airport, and Shenzhen Metro.
