On December 12, 2025, the Department of Education of Guangdong Province officially announced the list of winners for the 2025 Provincial Outstanding Teaching Achievement Awards (Higher Education - Undergraduate Category). The teaching achievement titled “Exploration and Practice in Cultivating Composite Talent for Digital and Intelligent Civil Engineering Driven by National Strategy and Interdisciplinary Integration,” submitted by the School of Civil and Transportation Engineering at Shenzhen University, was awarded the Special Prize. This marks the first time in recent years that our school has independently secured an award at this level. This accolade signifies a significant breakthrough in transforming the talent cultivation paradigm for civil engineering at the school!

This educational achievement focuses on fundamental transformations in civil engineering education for the new era. Guided by national strategic priorities and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, it centers on digital and intelligent transformation, adopts multidisciplinary integration as its pathway, employs virtual-physical blended scenario-based teaching as its method, and leverages large-scale platforms and projects as its driving force. Under the leadership of Academician Chen Xiangsheng, it has undertaken a paradigm shift in cultivating digital and intelligent civil engineering talent—one guided by national strategy and driven by interdisciplinary collaboration.

Academician Chen Xiangsheng, Dean of our institute, employs the shield machine as a blackboard to deliver scenario-based teaching.

The innovation of this teaching achievement is primarily manifested in: Innovation in the target system, cultivating scientists, engineers and managers with systematic thinking abilities and a profound sense of national and patriotic commitment; Innovation in the knowledge system, constructing a comprehensive civil engineering knowledge map oriented towards national major development strategies, digital-intelligent technological transformation, and multidisciplinary integration; Innovation in the support system, forming an educational support framework deeply empowered by national-level research platforms, teams of academicians from home and abroad, and scenario-based teaching models.

Our institution's independently developed scenario-based teaching system is utilised for instructional purposes.

In recent years, supported by this achievement, our institute has cultivated a substantial cohort of interdisciplinary innovative talents possessing a broad civil engineering perspective and digital intelligence capabilities. We have supplied 2,133 such professionals to the Greater Bay Area, facilitated further studies abroad for 171 individuals, and placed 45 graduates in employment within Hong Kong. Our educational accomplishments have been extensively covered by media outlets including Guangming Daily, Southern Daily, China Youth Daily, and Xuexi Qiangguo, establishing a replicable and scalable model for training interdisciplinary civil engineering professionals.
