In July 29th, 2021, Mr. Changwen Zhao, Director of the Center for International Knowledge on Development (CIKD) affiliated with the Development Research Center of the State Council visited the Institute of Deep Earth Science and Green Energy of Shenzhen University with his colleagues and have a discussion with Prof. Heping Xie, Dean of the Institute of Deep Earth Science and Green Energy on cooperation in the area of green energy research. Director Zhao detailed the background, development process and main functions of CIKD and introduced the specific work recently carried out by the CIKD focusing on the goal of carbon neutrality. Prof. Xie Heping provided a detailed introduction on the technology research and development carried out by Institute under the vision of carbon neutrality to the visitors with the theme of “Carbon neutrality—technology is the key: new technologies of low-and-medium temperature geothermal power generation, CCUS and direct hydrogen production from seawater”. The new technologies mainly involve low-and-medium temperature geothermal thermoelectric power generation technology, disruptive technology of CO2 mineralization power generation, new technology of CO2 electrochemical capture, future technology of zero-carbon-emission direct coal fuel cell, new principles and new technologies for direct hydrogen production from seawater and etc. The two parties conducted in-depth discussions on the development and application of the new technology introduced, and discussed in detail the possible areas of cooperation between the two parties.
