Recently, Professor Chen Xiangsheng received notification from Dr. Wang Jun, Chair of the SCP Awards Committee (International Society for Smart Construction and Production), that he has been awarded the 2025 SCP Construction Robotics Award. This honor recognizes Dean Chen Xiangsheng and the School of Civil and Transportation Engineering at Shenzhen University for their pioneering contributions in integrating intelligent robotic systems within complex and high-risk civil engineering environments. The award was formally presented at the IPC 2025 Conference Gala Dinner held in Perth, Australia, on August 7, 2025. Due to prior commitments, Professor Chen Xiangsheng was unable to attend in person and specially requested Professor Xu Changjie, President of East China Jiaotong University, to accept the medal on his behalf.

The Engineering Management Science Team at Shenzhen University's School of Civil and Transportation Engineering actively implements the national strategy for artificial intelligence development. By fully leveraging digital twins, big data-driven approaches, and AI-empowered traditional civil engineering, the team pioneers digital and intelligent engineering solutions with a focus on energy conservation and emission reduction. This has yielded innovative research outcomes in sustainable construction management theories and methodologies, intelligent construction and operation technologies, and their engineering applications. Key achievements include: ① Intelligent Data Acquisition: Pioneering AI-driven 3D laser scanning technology to overcome precise modeling challenges in complex environments; ② Construction Robotics: Independently developing multiple construction robots for prefabricated component installation, waste sorting, and underground utility tunnel fire early warning; ③ AI-Driven Decision-Making: First integration of large language models with BIM technology to automate engineering compliance reviews and bid document generation; ④ Intelligent Safety Management: Utilizing wearable devices and eye-tracking technology to dynamically warn workers of construction risks; ⑤ Green Construction: Establishing a carbon emissions simulation system to quantitatively evaluate pathways for achieving carbon neutrality and peak carbon emission goals; ⑥ Smart Operations & Maintenance: Developed a disaster virtual simulation platform to optimize resilience management for major infrastructure. Concurrently, explored “scenario-based” (immersive) teaching methodologies using digital and AI technologies. This initiative has played a positive role in addressing the mismatch between university talent cultivation and societal needs. Following strong recommendations from experts including Professor Wang Xiangyu, Academician of the European Union Academy of Sciences (EUAS), Professor Chen Xiangsheng accepted the award on behalf of the school.
