Introduction | Educational Objectives: In response to China’s national strategy of developing a strong transportation system and the increasing demand for advanced technologies driven by the integrated development of transportation within the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, the program is founded on industry–university–research collaboration and close partnerships between the academic institutions and industry entities. It aims to cultivate highly qualified professionals equipped with a comprehensive foundation in transportation engineering, interdisciplinary expertise, strong capabilities in resolving practical engineering challenges, and the capacity for ongoing and innovative learning. Graduates are anticipated to pursue careers in scientific research, technology development, engineering design, operation and management, and education related to intelligent urban transportation management and smart operation and maintenance of transportation infrastructure. Additionally, they are expected to stay informed of emerging theoretical and technological advancements in the field and to demonstrate a strong spirit of innovation and a global perspective. Program Features: The program focuses on intelligent transportation management and the operation and maintenance of transportation infrastructure. It employs adaptable training models and teaching approaches, offering a unique and comprehensive curriculum in transportation engineering. Building on a solid theoretical foundation, the program emphasizes the cultivation of students’ professional competencies, engineering skills, and capacity for technological innovation. Furthermore, it fosters close collaboration between academia and industry, integrating classroom instruction, on-campus practical training, and engineering practice to ensure high-quality education and comprehensive professional development. Program Highlights: The program explores an innovative university–enterprise collaborative model designed to cultivate professionals in intelligent transportation. In alignment with current industry trends and the evolving demands of the workforce, industry partners are actively engaged throughout the education and training process. The program incorporates industry feedback and recommendations into curriculum development and teaching. Addressing the diverse talen requirements within the transportation sector, the initiative aims to transcend the conventional campus-centered model by adopting a dynamic, open, and industry-oriented approach to education through close collaboration between the university and industry. |

Prospect | Graduates of the program will possess a solid foundation in engineering mathematics, computer science, and data science, complemented by a thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of transportation engineering and specialized expertise in intelligent transportation. They will cultivate professional capabilities in analysis and optimization of intelligent transportation systems, as well as the smart operation and maintenance of transportation infrastructure. These graduates will be well well-equipped for careers within national, provincial, and municipal intelligent transportation authorities, transportation-related enterprises and institutions, and companies specializing in connected vehicles and new energy vehicles. Their roles may encompass transportation policy research, intelligent transportation planning and development, applications of connected vehicle technology, and transportation operations and management. |
