Intelligent Construction

Introduction

Program Features: The Intelligent Construction program is founded on civil engineering and integrates knowledge and technologies from information technology, mechanical engineering, control engineering, architecture, materials engineering, engineering management, and related disciplines. The program covers the full life cycle of buildings and infrastructure, including design, manufacturing, transportation, assembly, operation, and maintenance. It also addresses the growing demand for greener, more sustainable, and smarter built environments. The curriculum focuses on four key areas: intelligent planning and design, intelligent equipment and construction, intelligent facilities and disaster prevention, and intelligent operation, maintenance, and management. Through this interdisciplinary approach, students develop the knowledge and skills needed for intelligent construction.

Program Vision: The program prepares graduates for the future needs of the construction industry, promoting well-rounded development in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education. Students build a solid theoretical foundation, broad professional knowledge, strong practical skills, and strong scientific and humanistic literacy. With a solid understanding of the principles and methods of civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electronic information science and engineering, control science and engineering, and engineering management, they also develop interdisciplinary skills in intelligent planning and design, intelligent equipment and construction, and intelligent operation, maintenance, and management of buildings and civil infrastructure. The program prepares well-rounded professionals with a capacity for lifelong learning, innovation, a global perspective, and leadership.

Core Courses

Engineering Drawing and Digital Building, City Information Model, Smart Engineering Surveying, Engineering Materials, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Data Structures and Algorithms, Construction Law and Project Management, Applications of the Finite Element Method, Introduction to Elasticity, Intelligent Inspection and Monitoring in Civil Engineering, Introduction to the Internet of Things, Civil Engineering Construction and Intelligent Construction, Control Theory and Application of Robots, and Academic English.

Prospect

The program is designed to meet the growing demand for intelligent construction professionals in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and beyond. The region's rapid development in construction, digital technologies, and smart infrastructure provides students with a dynamic environment for learning and professional development. Building on a foundation in civil engineering, the program integrates information technology with knowledge from mechanical and electrical engineering, materials engineering, engineering management, and related disciplines. The curriculum covers the full life cycle of civil engineering projects, from design, manufacturing, transportation, and assembly to operation and maintenance. The program prepares interdisciplinary professionals with a solid theoretical foundation in civil engineering, broad multidisciplinary knowledge, and strong practical and innovative capabilities. Graduates can pursue careers in civil engineering software development, intelligent design, intelligent construction, intelligent operation and maintenance, and intelligent management.
