I. Selection Plan

(1) Selection categories and study periods

5 undergraduate students, 39 master's students and 10 doctoral students.

(2) Selected majors

No restriction on majors. Priority is given to supporting management science, environmental science, engineering, health science, law, justice and public safety, education and pedagogical innovation, agriculture, land-use planning and development, multimedia and information technology, and Chinese and Québec literature and studies.

(3) Scholarship funding categories and durations

The maximum durations of the Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship for full-time students are as follows:

1. Undergraduate bachelor's education (excluding short courses and certificate programs): 36 months (90 credits) or 48 months (120 credits); students must complete 30 credits each year;

2. Master's degree study: 24 months (excluding short courses and university professional degree programs);

3. Doctoral degree study: 36 months (excluding short degree programs);

The Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship takes effect in the semester following the start of the recipient's studies, and is valid only within the study period. Students undertaking foundation or preparatory study may enjoy the Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship for no more than one year. Thereafter, to continue enjoying the exemption, they must enroll in a formal degree education program.

II. Funding Content

(1) Undergraduate students: pay the same tuition as Canadian students who are non-Québec residents.

(2) Master's and doctoral students: pay the same tuition as Québec students.

III. Application Requirements

(1) Support the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, love the motherland, and have a sense of responsibility to serve the country, society and the people, as well as a correct world outlook, outlook on life and values.

(2) Hold the nationality of the People's Republic of China and do not hold foreign permanent residency.

(3) Be physically and mentally healthy.

(4) Meet the foreign language requirements of the CSC funding for studying abroad and the language requirements of the destination country and institution.

(5) Be a full-time student holding a formal admission notice issued by a Québec university educational institution.

IV. Application Methods and Time

Applicants must complete their registration on the State-Sponsored Study Abroad Management Information Platform http://apply.csc.edu.cn between June 20 and July 10, and upload application materials as required by the platform. Among them, the foreign party's scholarship application form (see appendix) should be downloaded, filled in and uploaded to the information platform.

In addition, applicants must combine the formal invitation letter or proof of enrollment and the electronic version of the foreign party's scholarship application form into a single PDF file, with the file naming format: applicant's name in pinyin (surname capitalized, first letter of given name capitalized); the email subject naming format: 2020 Canada Québec Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship (Autumn) + name in pinyin, and send it to ca@csc.edu.cn before July 10.

V. Admission Methods and Time

The China Scholarship Council will review the application materials and submit the list of eligible personnel and their materials to the Canadian side; the final result is determined by the Canadian side.

VI. Requirements for Recipients

(1) During the period of receiving the Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship, recipients shall undertake full-time study in Québec.

(2) If circumstances arise such as failure to meet the corresponding program requirements, violation of school rules, or being disallowed to continue study in the program, the scholarship will be terminated.

(3) If changing the study major or study institution, approval must be obtained from the institutions responsible for the Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship on both the Chinese and Québec sides, and the change must not extend the study period or scholarship period. In the case of unapproved changes, the scholarship will be terminated.

(4) Except for applying for the Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship to pursue a higher-level degree, applicants may not enjoy the Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship more than once.

(5) If the scholarship is terminated, subsequent matters are the responsibility of the applicant.

VII. Recipients of the Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship will not be dispatched as state-sponsored study-abroad personnel.
