Notice on Applications for Recommended Admission of Master's Students to the University of Macau for the 2021–2022 Academic Year

To encourage qualified outstanding graduating undergraduates to apply for master's degree programs at the University of Macau, through consultation, our university has obtained the qualification to recommend postgraduate students (recommended admission) to the University of Macau. The application method is as follows:

I. Application period: until October 15, 2020.

II. Application requirements:

(1) Graduating undergraduate of the 2020–2021 academic year;

(2) Good academic conduct, with no record of cheating in any examination or serious disciplinary violation;

(3) Good moral character, physical and mental health, excellent grades, strong innovative spirit, and the ability to think and work independently.

(4) Excellent undergraduate academic performance, and meeting at least one of the following conditions:

1. CET-6 score of 430 or above;

2. TOEFL paper-based score of 550 or above / internet-based score of 80 or above;

3. IELTS overall score of 6.0 or above with no band lower than 5.5;

4. TEM-4 or TEM-8 (Test for English Majors).

Note: TOEFL and IELTS scores are valid for two years. Some master's programs have English requirements lower than the above; please check the webpages of the relevant colleges for details.

III. Application materials

1. Application form; (Appendix 1)

2. Personal statement; (Appendix 2)

3. Two recommendation letters, i.e., recommendations from two experts (one of which must be written by a university teacher); (Appendix 3)

4. Undergraduate transcript (from first year to third year), stamped with the official seal of the Academic Affairs Office;

5. Proof of undergraduate enrollment;

6. English proficiency certificate (refer to item 4 of the application requirements);

7. Award certificates, representative academic papers, publications or original work achievements that reflect one's own level (all as copies);

8. Copy of ID card;

9. Copy of household registration (hukou);

10. A 2-inch passport photo with white background (electronic version: JPG format, minimum 300 dpi resolution, recent color photo);

11. Personal curriculum vitae;

12. Application documents required by individual colleges (if any).

IV. Application steps

1. Students applying must log in to the University of Macau online application system (https://isw.um.edu.mo/naweb_grs/faces/index.jspx) before October 15, 2020 to fill in the information, and scan and upload all application materials in the order required by the system. Then, mail the originals of all application materials (except the recommendation forms and language proficiency certificates already uploaded to the system) by express delivery directly to the corresponding faculty/department office of the University of Macau, and indicate on the envelope "University of Macau 2021/2022 Recommended Admission for Postgraduate Study Application." The mailing deadline is October 15, 2020 (subject to postmark), and applications will not be accepted after the deadline. Once all application materials are received, they will not be returned.

2. For the University of Macau's 2021/2022 recommended admission master's program catalog (Appendix 4), the 2020/2021 tuition fee schedule (for reference) (Appendix 5), and the addresses and contact methods of the offices of each faculty/department (Appendix 6), the detailed contents of the program catalog can be found on the webpages of the relevant faculties/departments.

3. The relevant faculties/departments of the University of Macau will review the materials before October 30, 2020, select the best candidates, and notify qualified applicants by email or phone for an interview. Unless otherwise arranged by individual colleges, the preliminary admission list will be published on the webpage of the University of Macau Graduate School on November 10, 2020.

4. The University of Macau Research Institute will announce the final admission list on its webpage on November 17, 2020, and issue the Notice through the University of Macau online application system.

5. All materials submitted by applicants must be authentic and valid. If the submitted materials are found to be untrue or inaccurate, the University of Macau will cancel the applicant's exemption qualification and report this to the applicant's school, i.e., Shenzhen University; the resulting consequences shall be borne by the applicant.

6. Applicants who receive the Notice must provide their bachelor's degree certificate and full transcript when registering. If they cannot submit the bachelor's degree certificate or their total grades do not meet the requirements of the relevant college, their admission qualification will be canceled.
