Notice on Applying for Exchange Teachers to Daejeon University, South Korea in Autumn 2023

In accordance with the inter-university exchange agreement signed between Shenzhen University and Daejeon University, South Korea, our university will dispatch teachers to the above university to engage in teaching and research. The relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:

I. Candidate Requirements

1. Excellent ideological and moral character, possessing both ability and integrity, physical and mental health, and excellent results in annual performance assessment;

2. Formal staff members of the university who have worked at the university for four years or more;

3. Good command of Korean or English, and standard Mandarin;

4. Professional conditions: the research direction should basically correspond to the majors offered by the partner university, with priority given to majors in language and literature (see the introduction to the exchange university);

5. For Daejeon University, professional and technical personnel with an intermediate professional title or above and under the age of 50 are required, with males preferred (as required by the partner).

II. Dispatch Method and Time

Dispatched under the unit-sponsored (institutional) dispatch method.

Daejeon University: September 2023 – August 2024 (one person).

III. Treatment

1. During the period abroad, the exchange scholar's treatment at the university remains unchanged; the partner provides free housing and medical care, and pays a certain living allowance monthly.

2. The round-trip international travel expenses of the exchange scholar are borne by the scholar.

3. The exchange scholar signs an exchange agreement with the university as required and strictly fulfills all the terms of the agreement.

IV. Tasks

1. Conduct special-topic research with a research project, while also undertaking at least 6 class hours per week of Chinese language teaching.

2. The selected teacher must make all preparations for research and teaching abroad before departure, and achieve fluent foreign language communication.

3. Submit an overseas summary and results report within two weeks after returning to the university.

V. Registration and Deadline

The applicant fills in the application form, submits a research plan, and, after approval and recommendation by the college leader, submits the materials (application form plus unit recommendation opinion and research plan) to the International Exchange and Cooperation Office before May 12 (Room 328, Administration Building; phone: 26536108, Teacher ZHANG).

The International Exchange and Cooperation Office will select the best candidates based on the needs of discipline development and comprehensive factors such as ability and integrity, and report to the university leaders for approval. Teachers are encouraged to use sabbatical leave to go abroad for further study and to engage in teaching-related scientific research activities.

Daejeon University, South Korea

Daejeon University is located in Daejeon, South Korea. Founded in 1980, it is a comprehensive private university. The university has 8 colleges and more than 20 majors: the College of Humanities and Arts (Korean, Philosophy, History and Culture, Literary Creation, Calligraphy, Public Relations Design), the College of International Languages and Cultures (English, Chinese, Japanese, Russian), the College of Applied Industry (Life Sciences, Microbial Life Engineering, Children's Venture, Fashion Design, Business, Food and Nutrition, Electronic Information Security), the College of Engineering (Architecture, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geotechnical Design, Electronics, Information and Communication, Applied Chemistry, Computer Engineering, New Materials Engineering, Fire Protection and Disaster Prevention), the College of Political Science and Law (Law, Police, Administration, Autonomous Administration, Political Communication and Advertising, Social Welfare, Military Science), the College of Management (Accounting, Taxation, Business Administration, Trade and Commerce, Logistics and Distribution, Industrial Advertising Psychology, Business Information Statistics, Hospital Management, Economics), the College of Health and Physical Education (Physical Therapy, Fitness Management, Secondary Special Education, Social Sports, Dance, Security and Martial Arts Instruction, Emergency Rescue), and the College of Korean Medicine (Medicine and Nursing). There are 47 master's programs and 36 doctoral programs, and three Korean-medicine-affiliated hospitals.

The city of Daejeon, where the university is located, is an emerging science city in South Korea, gathering many universities and scientific research institutions in the country (comparable to Tsukuba in Japan). Daejeon is an important transportation hub connecting the capital Seoul and Busan. The 1993 International Exposition was held in Daejeon Expo Science Park, showcasing the ever-changing landscape of today's cutting-edge science. It was also one of the venues of the 2002 FIFA World Cup. In addition, South Korea's oldest hot spring is located here. The campus has beautiful scenery and has been the filming location for many Korean films.

Daejeon University's goals in the new millennium are the internationalization, openness and high-speed informatization of the university. It has now established friendly cooperative relations with 151 universities in 25 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Japan.

Our university became a sister university with Daejeon University on October 30, 1991, and signed an inter-university exchange agreement, making it our university's first Korean sister university. The exchange professors of the university opened the first Korean language course teaching at our university. According to the agreement, the two universities exchange teachers and students each year.
