On the evening of July 6, the CPC and World Political Parties Summit with the theme of "For the People's Happiness: The Responsibilities of Political Parties" was held in a video connection. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President of the State, attended the meeting in Beijing and delivered a keynote speech. The summit set up local branch venues in Shanghai, Yan'an in Shaanxi, Shenzhen in Guangdong, Ningde in Fujian and Anji in Zhejiang. Chen Xiangsheng, Dean of the Future Underground City Research Institute of Shenzhen University and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the Shenzhen branch of the summit.

Academician Chen Xiangsheng, the dean of our college, excitedly said in an interview with a reporter from the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily: "The convening of the CPC and World Political Parties Summit fully reflects the responsibility of China and the Communist Party of China’s great powers and the original intention and value pursuit of seeking happiness for the people. The summit took Shenzhen as one of the five sub-venues, which is the party Central Committee’s affirmation of the achievements of Shenzhen’s reform and opening up for more than 40 years. As a representative of scientific and technical personnel engaged in teaching and research, I’m proud to be able to participate in this conference. I also realize that we have a great responsibility, and we must continue to carry forward the patriotic spirit and spirit of selfless dedication as scientific and technological personnel, contribute to scientific research and education, and produce better results, cultivate better talents, and make a greater contribution to the prosperity of the country and people’s happiness.

Academician Chen Xiangsheng also mentioned that in the future, Shenzhen should focus on the national long-term development strategy, sustainable development strategy, and long-term considerations for the benefit of the people, in terms of resilient city construction, intensive and efficient use of urban space, carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, etc. In this regard, we will provide more "Shenzhen experience" and "Shenzhen plan" for the overall situation of the country's sustainable development and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
