In the afternoon of November 6, 2025, Prof. Shou Kejian from Taiwan Chung Hsing University, President of the International Society for Trenchless Technology, was invited to visit our institute to give a special academic exchange in Room 1007, Zhili Building, Yuehai Campus (South). The meeting was hosted by Prof. Su Dong, Vice President of the Institute, and attended by Prof. Fei Jianbo, Engineer Li Qiang, Assistant Prof. Peng Yuansheng, Assistant Prof. Zhu Min, and other related faculty members, post-doctoral, Ph.D., and master's degree students.

Prof. Shou Kejian gave a lecture entitled “Support Design and Dewatering of Deep Excavation in Gravelly Soil for an MRT Station”, which systematically elaborated the key technology of deformation control and dewatering faced by the deep foundation pit project of the City Hall MRT Station in Taiwan in gravelly soil. Challenges. Combined with abundant cases and measured data, the report deeply analyzed the support design and precipitation scheme of the project, showing the innovative path of combining cutting-edge research results with engineering practice.

In the exchange and discussion session, the participating teachers and students had a warm and in-depth discussion with Prof. Shou Kejian on the topics of deep foundation pit construction technology, mechanical response of gravel stratum, and safety risk assessment under seismic action.

At the end of the meeting, Prof. Su Dong, on behalf of the Institute, expressed his heartfelt thanks to Prof. Shou Kejian for his wonderful sharing, and looked forward to this exchange as an opportunity to further expand the space for academic interaction and cooperation between the two sides in the related fields.
