吕伟生教授现任香港大学房地产及建设系系主任。此前，吕教授担任香港大学建筑学院副院长，主管科研。他的研究方向包括数字建造和绿色建筑。过去的十五年中，吕教授依托他的iLab (智能城市建造实验室),申请并成功完成约六千万港元的研究项目。吕教授著有两本关于Building Information Modeling (BIM)（建筑信息模型）的专著及220多篇高质量的期刊论文。他最近的研究项目包括用生成式人工智能 （Generative AI）设计高层模块化建筑，用BIM,区块链和i-Core (自研的物联网技术)管理模块化建筑的跨境物流等等。近些年，他的另一个研究方向是循环经济在建筑和城市中的应用。他提议在粤港澳大湾区内设立建筑废弃物贸易组织(Waste Trade Organisation, WTO)。
他的研究屡获国际殊荣，包括美国土木工程师学会的最佳论文奖，buildingSMART国际专业研究类别大奖，香港政府资讯及通讯科技奖金奖，以及香港建筑业议会的多个奖项。吕教授也是一个高被引学者，自2017起连续六年被科睿唯安评为全球百分之一顶尖学者。吕教授也是建筑业的“意见领袖”，多次出现在国际媒体，如经济学人(The Economist) ,纽约时报，南华早报等等。吕教授追求“顶天立地”的研究。他的很多创新都在香港的多个建设项目中实施应用。他也是国际讲坛，如世界银行，亚洲开发银行和香港政府，建筑业议会主题演讲的常客，和世界顶尖的商业人才分享研究前沿。
Professor Wilson Lu is Chair Professor (Digital Construction) and Head of the Department of Real Estate and Construction, Faculty of Architecture (FoA), the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He has been the Associate Dean (Research) of FoA since March 2016. His research interests focus on construction informatics and construction waste management. In the past fifteen years, Professor Lu has secured and successfully completed research projects worth approximately HK$60 million through his iLab (Intelligent City Construction Laboratory). He is the author of 2 books, 200+ book chapters and journal papers. His recent research projects include designing high-rise modular buildings with Generative AI, managing cross-border logistics of modular buildings with BIM, blockchain and i-Core (self-developed IoT technology), etc. Another emerging focus of his work is applying circular economy in buildings and cities. He proposed to establish a construction waste trade organization (Waste Trade Organisation, WTO) in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
His research has won numerous international awards, including the Best Paper Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the buildingSMART International Professional Research Award, the Gold Award from the Hong Kong Government Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Award, and multiple awards from the Hong Kong Construction Industry Council. Professor Lu has been ranked as one of the Top 1% Scholars by Clarivate Analytics since 2017. Professor Lu is also an "opinion leader" in the construction industry and has been interviewed by various international media such as The Economist, The New York Times, and the South China Morning Post. Professor Lu pursues "groundbreaking yet practical" research. Many of his innovations have been implemented in multiple construction projects in Hong Kong. He is also a regular keynote speaker at international forums hosted by organizations like the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the Hong Kong Government, and the Construction Industry Council, sharing his research frontiers with some of the world’s leading business and industry professionals.

iLab, led by Professor Lu, is established as an urban big data lab to take the opportunities and challenges as instigated by the global visions of Smart City and Industry 4.0. It has made a significant break-through in modernizing the construction industry in Hong Kong and beyond. Professor Lu will introduce the basic information and key research areas of iLab, including construction informatics and construction waste management.
