To all relevant units:

To ensure that foreign teachers (including postdoctoral researchers) of our university can handle relevant documents for coming to China promptly and effectively during the winter vacation (January 13 – February 18, 2020), the relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:

1. Foreign teachers and foreign postdoctoral researchers who need to apply for the Notification Letter of Foreigner's Work Permit, the Foreigner's Work Permit, or an extension must submit the relevant materials to Room 335 of Huiyuan Building (the former Administration Building) before December 18 (Wednesday), 2019.

2. It takes at least two working weeks to process the above work permits. To ensure the timeliness of document processing, all foreigners who need to apply for the permits must bring all originals and the original translated copies upon entry into China, so that the work permit documents can be processed smoothly. (According to the latest notice from the Foreign Experts Bureau, recommendation letters will no longer be accepted in any form of color-printed version, and the original must be provided. The original is not an electronic printout; if it cannot be provided, the Foreign Experts Bureau will not accept the application.)

3. After the employed foreign professors (including postdoctoral researchers) enter China and complete their medical examination, when applying for the Foreigner's Work Permit, please note to avoid the New Year's Day holiday and bring all required materials, so as not to delay the processing of the work permit and residence permit. Those who fail to complete the procedures within more than 30 calendar days will face administrative penalties and the risk of repatriation.

4. Special note: Since the university's onboarding dates are uniform, if onboarding procedures cannot be completed before the 15th of the current month, the salary will be postponed by one month. It takes about 25 days for foreigners to process the documents after entering China, so please coordinate the entry time with the foreign nationals in advance; entry in the middle of each month is recommended. The Foreign Experts Bureau does not accept applications for expedited document processing.
